This was an adder sheet that came with the 40 hp kit. They might have added the tesioner after the 40 hp kit was introduced. You can see the spacer block that is used for the carb. This allowed the preheat extension to clear the fan shroud. Not the older 40 HP carb with the thermostatic choke and old accelerator pump (small round circle). VW II - 40 HP & 36 HP Parts List. 40 hp Judson press gauge, there is a 36 hp gauge on the other page. This is a 40 HP VW Judson Supercharger Kit. In this kit you can see the stamped stell generator half pulled. The pulley is narrower to allow the Judson belt to clear it. There is a carb spacer (bottom middle) for the 40 HP kit. This blower is usually stamped VW-II and has the single belt pulley. Belt tension is now adjusted with a tension pulley seen sticking out to the left of the blower. Use a Solex #140 air correction jet (supplied with kit). Stock was 200, 195, or 180 air correction jet depending on year. The solex #135 jet is needed for the carb. Sown here is a 36 HP Judons air cleaner on the left with a 40 HP air cleaner on the right. The 40 hp air cleaner used part of the original VW air cleaner. The original air cleaner snout was cut off and attached to the Judson air cleaner to provide preheat to the carb. Also, the 40 hp unit has a pipe (not shown here) to connect the engine oil breather pipe from the oil filler stand. 36 HP linkage on the left with 40 HP linkage on the right NOS 40 hp Judson belt with Judson Logo on it!!!! The Judson Belt is a "Gates 8210" for 36 and 40 HP. I have not verified this so if someone else knows different please let me know. The old oilers had a Judson red decal placed on them. Shown on the left is the NOS oiler from the 40 HP kit. The original Marvel decal was a water transfer decal where the new ones (on the right) is a paper decal. New oilers are available from Marvel for about $90 USD. Note that the original oiler had a safty wire that ran down under the bottle and the pickup tube was longer with a mesh screen on the bottom of it. Also shown is the old oiler box and original can of Marvel oil. The Marvel oil can did not change much either.
